Abstract

Using geometric arguments of nonlinear dynamics we determine parameter regions for which the resistively shunted Josephson equation is assuredly nonchaotic, with or without an inductive shunting term, and with anyforcing. These results can account for the observed stability and voltage-to-frequency fidelity of the Kamper-Soulen resistively shunted Josephson thermometer, in the region of low inductive shunting.
