Abstract

The absolute cross section of the photodisintegration of deuterium was measured at 2754 keV using an absorptive method by passing the photons through 2-m-long absorbers of H2O and D2O. The measured value is 1456±45 μb. The result is compared with calculations that include contributions from meson-exchange currents and isobar configurations.
