Search for $C P$ -violating charge asymmetry in $B^{\pm} \to J / ψ K^{\pm}$ decays

Abstract

We present the result of a search for charge asymmetry in $B^{\pm} \to J / ψ K^{\pm}$ decays using $772 \times 10^{6}$ $B \bar{B}$ pairs collected at the $Υ (4 S)$ resonance by the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy $e^{+} e^{-}$ collider. The $C P$ -violating charge asymmetry is measured to be $A_{C P} (B^{+} \to J / ψ K^{+}) = [- 0.76 \pm 0.50 (stat) \pm 0.22 (syst)] %$ .
