New data on the spectrum of α particles following the ${}_{}{}^{16}{}_{}{}^{}\mathrm{N}$ β decay are used to revise and extend a previous evaluation of the E1 part of the astrophysical S factor for the ${}_{}{}^{12}{}_{}{}^{}\mathrm{C}$(α,γ${)}^{16}$O reaction.
