Abstract
We report calculations of resonant Raman scattering spectra of trans-(CD which are in very good agreement with the experimental data. The theory is based on the hypothesis that trans-(CD, like trans-(CH, consists of different conjugation-length segments, weighted by a bimodal Gaussian distribution. The lattice dynamics and the electron vibration properties of trans-(CD are investigated. Finally, this model is extensively discussed in comparison with that based on amplitude modes associated with Peierls gaps of different energies.
