Abstract

We investigated the taxonomic relationship between , , and . Digital DNA–DNA hybridisation using whole genome sequences and multilocus sequence analysis indicated that and belong to the same genomospecies. Previously reported phenotypic data also supported this synonymy. Therefore, and should be reclassified as later heterotypic synonyms of . The type strain of is NBRC 12839 (=ATCC 23880=CBS 660.68=RIA 1198=CGMCC 4.1591=DSM 40284=JCM 4228=JCM 4621=KCTC 9694=NRRL 2421=NRRL ISP-5284=VKM Ac-1824). This study also revealed that genome sequence-published NRRL F-8817 should be reclassified into .
