Abstract

Strain KF707 was isolated from a biphenyl-contaminated site in Kitakyushu, Japan. Analysis of 16S rRNA gene sequences, retrieved from the whole-genome sequence, revealed that the isolate was closely related to members of the genus , sharing the highest sequence similarities with strain SP1402 (DSM 6083) (97.8 %). The DNA G+C chromosome and plasmid content of strain KF707 were 65.5 and 60.5 mol%. The major cellular fatty acids were iso-C and Cω7/Cω6. Polyphasic analysis indicated that strain KF707 represents a novel species of the genus , for which the name sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is KF707 (=DSM 10086=NBRC 110670).
