Abstract
Difficulty is often experienced in the interpretation of electron micrographs of pigments as surface detail cannot normally be observed. A simple technique for the preparation of shadowed carbon replicas of zinc sulphide and lithopone is described. The use of a selective leaching agent permitting differentiation of the zinc sulphide and barium sulphate in lithopone is demonstrated.
