Abstract
The new radioactive decays of 222-224Ra and 232U via 14C and 24Ne are shown to be given simply as the collective mass fragmentation process. In agreement with the works of Greiner et. al. (1985) shell effects are shown to fix all the possible decay channels, 14C or 24Ne being one of them. The proximity potential is shown simply to amplify the shell structure of the potential energy surfaces. Results are also presented for 224,226Th.
