Abstract

Thermodynamic properties and phase relations of K-Bi alloys were measured over the temperature range 703-933 K. An EMF technique was used in which potassium-substituted beta alumina served as the solid electrolyte. Partial and integral values of Gibbs energy, entropy, enthalpy, excess stability and excess heat capacity are reported as well as liquidus temperatures. The excess stability has peaks near 50 and 75 at.% K, which can be interpreted as an indication of maximum structural ordering at these compositions.
