Abstract

Molecular-dynamics calculations are reported for a system simulating a liquid Na-K alloy. A propagating sound mode is observed, but its detection by neutron-scattering techniques is likely to be difficult because the decay of density fluctuations is dominated by interdiffusion. No evidence has been found of any propagating concentration fluctuation.
