Abstract

Instantaneous local temperatures in fluids are often measured by passing a small constant current through a fine metallic cold wire. A new circuit for supplying current to such wires is described in detail. In addition to ease of construction and operation, the circuit features wide bandwidth and very low temperature drift. Drift performance is compared with one other available circuit, and measurements taken in a heated, laminar, oscillatory pipe flow are presented as an application.
