Abstract
The elastic magnetic diffuse scattering of neutrons from a single crystal of PdFe (Fe similar ¼ at.%) has been examined at 4·2 °K. Differential cross sections were measured for scattering vectors along <100>, <110> and <111> directions in the crystal. The three sets of data superpose within experimental error, implying a corresponding degree of isotropy in the magnetization of the palladium host around each Fe atom. This result is discussed with the aid of a simple model to represent the palladium matrix.
