ABSTRACT

The field of M67 has been examined by low-resolution slitless spectroscopy using a transmission grating and wedge near the prime focal surface of a 4-m telescope. In the range from 3150 to 6900 A at a reciprocal dispersion of approximately 2300 A/mm, the faint blue objects found by Luyten (1963) on Hale telescope plates are detected to a B magnitude of about 21.7. Three of these appear to be emission-line objects: LB 3596 is a sharp-lined compact galaxy (z about 0.03), while LB 3597 (z about 258) and LB 6378 (z about 1.76) may be emission-line quasi-stellar objects.
