A Study of the Eclipsing Binary Beta Aurigae
Abstract
The present study has led to the determination of the average effective temperature and surface gravity of the two components of the eclipsing binary system /3 Aur. By use of photoelectric spectrum scans in conjunction with detailed abundance analyses, an effective temperature T~f = 87500 K and surface gravity log g = 3.7 were derived. The abundance analyses indicate similar chemical composi- tions for both components. Both members of this system appear to show abundance anomalies remi- niscent of mild Am stars
