2023, Algal ResearchMaturyoshka: A maturase inside a maturase, and other peculiarities of the novel chloroplast genomes of marine euglenophytes
2022, Molecular Phylogenetics and EvolutionCitation Excerpt :For instance, the characteristics of the pyramimonadalean ancestor of the euglenid plastid, as well as the identity of its closest extant relative, have not been fully understood (Hrdá et al., 2012; Karnkowska et al., 2018). Moreover, the phylogenetic relationships of Eutreptiales – with Euglenales and each other – are still debated (Karnkowska et al., 2018; Kolisko et al., 2020; Marin et al., 2003). This work’s primary objective is to investigate the evolutionary history of plastid genomes of marine euglenophytes, with a particular focus on their uncommon traits, such as group II introns and their maturases.
