Abstract

Kenaf (Hibiscus cannabinus) is being grown experimentally in the Burdekin River Irrigation Area in north Queensland. A Selenosporella sp. causing a root rot and wilt, is a major pathogen of water-stressed crops. Other diseases include stem rot and lodging (Rhizoctonia solani), root rot (Pythium deliense), crown rot (Sclerotium rolfsii) and a stem spot (Phomopsis sp.).
