Objectives/Hypothesis: Sinonasal carcinomas are rare tumors and little is known about the genetic changes in these tumors. This study aims to define the genetic profile of the 2 most frequent histological types: nasal sinus squamous cell carcinomas (NSSCCs) and intestinal-type sinonasal adenocarcinoma (ITAC).

Methods: Gene copy number changes of NSSCC and ITAC were analyzed by microarray comparative genomic hybridization (maCGH), flow cytometry, microsatellite instability, and multiplex ligation-dependent probe amplification (MLPA).

Results: The MLPA and maCGH results enabled the identification of hotspots of chromosomes and genes involved in the development of NSSCC and ITAC.

Conclusion: The growing knowledge of the genetic alterations in NSSCC and ITAC will allow us to establish its molecular profile and help us to understand the relationship between biologic, therapeutic, and clinical behaviors.
