Cyclic boron compounds. Ring strain in the B-phenyl and B-butyl dioxaboron heterocycles

Abstract

The solution thermochemistry at 25 °C of [graphic omitted], RB(OEt)2, [graphic omitted] [R = Ph or Bun, n= 2, 3, or 4] is described. Appropriate enthalpies of transition are determined and cyclic strain energies of the heterocycles are estimated. The influence of steric and electronic effects on these strain energies is discussed.
