Selectivity by benzopinacol

Abstract

The host molecule 1,1,2,2-tetraphenylethane-1,2-diol forms inclusion compounds with THF, DMA and DMF with a constant host : guest ratio of 1 : 2. The structures of these three inclusion compounds were solved as well as the structure of a mixed guest compound. We studied the selectivity of the host towards all three guests and determined the activation energy of guest desorption for the DMA and DMF compounds.
