Alkali metal ion selectivities of podands that form pseudo-cyclic structures by intramolecular hydrogen bonding

Abstract

New podands capable of intramolecular hydrogen bonding (1–3) have been synthesized. 13C NMR titration experiments and FAB mass spectra of the podands show that 1 and 2 form pseudo-cyclic structures under guest-free conditions. The X-ray crystal structure of the 2–NaSCN complex is also reported.
