CsOH/γ-Al2O3: a heterogeneous reusable basic catalyst for one-pot synthesis of 2-amino-4,6-diaryl pyrimidines

Abstract

A new strategy for a one-pot synthesis of 2-amino-4, 6-diaryl pyrimidines using CsOH/γ-Al2O3 as a heterogeneous, reusable basic catalyst is presented. The developed synthetic protocol for pyrimidines is a one-pot three-component reaction of acetophenone, aromatic aldehydes and guanidine hydrochloride in ethanol. Characterization of the catalyst CsOH/γ-Al2O3 was performed by using FT-IR, XRD, TG-DTA, SEM, BET surface area and CO2-TPD analysis techniques. The analytical data prove that the catalyst has excellent reusability and also indicate their good thermal stability.
