Summary
The variation of alcohol dehydrogenase specific activity in a sample of inbred lines derived from a population of Drosophila melanogaster has been investigated. The results demonstrated the existence of extensive genetical variation for activity which, in part, was not detected electrophoretically. The narrow heritability of individuals in the population was estimated as 20ยท6 per cent.
