Missing mass around galaxies: morphological evidence

Abstract

RECENTLY we have obtained convincing empirical indications on the considerable role of hidden matter in the dynamics of single and double galaxies1. It seems that this matter is concentrated around massive galaxies, forming their coronas. The total mass of galaxies is about one order of magnitude greater than the mass of their visible parts.
