Secretion of an Orthodiphenol in the Corpus Cardiacum of the Insect

Abstract

ALTHOUGH it has been known for some years that the corpus cardiacum of insects contains a chromatophorotropic principle active on the chromatophores of many Crustacea1, there has been very little information on the functions of the gland in the insect itself. It was interesting, therefore, to observe an effect of corpus cardiacum extract on the heart and gut of the insect.
