Abstract

Tris(trifluoromethyl)bismuth generates difluorocarbene at -30°C in the presence of aluminum chloride. By reaction of the difluorocarbene with isobutylene, styrene, cyclohexene, and 2,3-dimethylbutadiene the corresponding substituted difluorocyclopropanes were obtained.
