Abstract

The symmetry of the superconductivity is the central issue in nodal superconductors. The angular-dependent thermal conductivity in the vortex state provides a new window to study this symmetry. We find the intriguing angular-dependent thermal conductivity found in single crystals of YBCO is described semi-quantitatively in terms of a dx2y2-wave superconductor. Also the phononic thermal conductivity in general depends both on H and the angle. Further, we can identify Δ(k) in Sr2RuO4, CeCoIn5 and more recently in κ-(ET)2Cu(NCS)2 from the angular-dependent thermal conductivity data.
