2018, Journal of Equine Veterinary ScienceCitation Excerpt :A further and alternative theory for the development of the cardiac fibrosis is excessive and prolonged fibroplasia and fibrosis as a result of chronic inflammation or infection [9]. Ventricular tachycardia is a relatively uncommon arrhythmia in the horse and has been associated with myocarditis, electrolyte or acid-base imbalances, autonomic imbalances, acute hemorrhage, systemic diseases including colic and sepsis, and drug administration [4,11,24]. Focal lesions within the myocardium can also cause ventricular tachycardia [4,11,25].

2012, Journal of Veterinary CardiologyCitation Excerpt :In this case, independent P-waves were evident (Fig. 1a,b), making the diagnoses of ectopic JT or VT more likely. These can be difficult to distinguish, although a QRS complex of normal duration that begins in multiple leads with the same QRS morphology as sinus complexes is suggestive of a junctional or “nodal” rhythm origin.4 Atrial tachycardia with 2:1 AV conduction was also a consideration.
