Lawrence S. Friedman attended Princeton University and The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Dr. Friedman received his fellowship training in gastroenterology at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School under Kurt J. Isselbacher, M.D. Currently, he is Assistant Professor of Medicine, Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Jefferson Medical College, and Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Hisresearch interests include inflammatory bowel disease and viral hepatitis.

    Jules L. Dienstag is a graduate of Columbia College and Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. Dr. Dienstag spent two years at the University of Chicago as intern and junior assistant resident in internal medicine, then was a research associate under Dr. Robert Purcell in the Hepatitis Virus Section, Laboratory of Infectious Diseases, National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, National Institutes of Health. After his research training at NIH, he completed a clinical and research fellowship in medicine (gastroenterology) with Dr. Kurt J. Isselbacher at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School. Currently, he is an Associate Professor Medicine at Harvard Medical School and a member of the Gastrointestinal Unit at the Massachusetts General Hospital.
