Impact of menopause on women with systemic lupus erythematosus
2021, MaturitasCitation Excerpt :However, when evaluating markers of ovarian aging including anti-mullerian hormone (AMH) and antral follicle count (AFC) among SLE patients versus controls, the findings are mixed with some studies reporting lower AMH [40,46] and AFC [41,46,47] in SLE patients and other studies finding no statistically significant differences [48,49]. Interestingly, despite the known gonadotoxic effects of CYC treatment, there are also mixed results regarding effects of this treatment on markers of ovarian aging [46,48–53]. SLE disease activity is also largely not associated with ovarian reserve markers [40,48,50].
Outcomes of planned pregnancy in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus and their neonates
2021, Egyptian RheumatologistCitation Excerpt :Pregnancy in patients with SLE along with the effect of pre-pregnancy planning on disease activity, as well as maternal and fetal outcomes has always been a popular area of research, especially in the field of rheumatology. During pregnancy, the clinical condition of such patients may deteriorate [17–19]. An increase in the SLE activity during pregnancy, as well as maternal and fetal complications, are two major concerns among pregnant women with SLE [20–22].
