  • Echocardiographic diagnosis of sinus of Valsalva aneurysm: A 17-year (1995-2012) experience of 212 surgically treated patients from one single medical center in China

    Citation Excerpt :

If the SVAs protrude or rupture directly into the left ventricle, the characteristic sign could be displayed in the parasternal long axis view. A thin-wall saccular lesion arises between the aortic wall and the aortic annulus and goes back and forth between the aortic root and the left ventricular cavity, being dilated during diastole and compressed during systole [17]. The origin of the aneurysm could be identified by the location of the orifice in the short axis view of the aortic root.

    Citation Excerpt :

But, despite his status as a grandfather, Professor Wang is not prepared to retire anytime soon. He responds to my letters and e-mails within 24 h, even at midnight, goes to his university library every day, attends important ultrasonic meetings in different cities, and continues to publish [40–42]. He is a proud grandfather of a granddaughter who in April 2011 received her PhD/MD in echocardiography at the same Tongji Medical University (Fig. 13).
