Massimo Santoro graduated in Medicine in 1986 and received the PhD in Molecular Pathology in 1992. Since 2002, he is professor of General Pathology at the University of Naples ‘Federico II’. His research interests deal with molecular genetics of thyroid cancer and particularly with mechanisms of thyroid cancer initiation by gain-of-function mutations in the RET tyrosine kinase.

Francesca Carlomagno graduated in Medicine in 1993 and received the PhD in Cellular and Molecular Biology and Pathology in 1999. Since 2010, she is associate professor of General Pathology at University of Naples ‘Federico II’. Her studies have been directed on the role of Receptor Tyrosine Kinase RET oncogenic conversion in thyroid cancer pathogenesis with a specific focus on the identification and testing of RET inhibitors in preclinical models of thyroid cancer.
