    Barriers include lack of financial support available to give families for their time, difficulty coordinating meetings to fit the needs of families and perceptions of limited bandwidth by NICU QI teams to recruit and maintain relationships with families for this purpose. With the recognition of barriers to integrate accurate tracking of data according to social factors and consistent inclusion of family perspectives, the QI framework remains a highly powerful tool for neonatal hospital teams to address disparities in neonatal care quality.18 Use of a QI framework provides a data-driven, team-based approach for implementing evidenced-based practices into the local context.
