Stephen Adams obtained his PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Cambridge. He joined Roger Tsien's group at the University of California, Berkeley in 1984, and moved with him to the Department of Pharmacology at the University of California, San Diego where he is currently a project scientist. He collaborated with Roger Tsien for over 30 years on fluorescent indicators and tags for cell biology and molecular imaging.

Jianghong Rao is a Professor of Radiology and Chemistry at Stanford University, and a member of Molecular Imaging Program at Stanford (MIPS). He did postdoctoral study in Roger Tsien's group at the University of California, San Diego in 1999-2001. His lab works on designing multimodal imaging probes and biosensors for visualization of biology and diagnosis of disease.
