Antitubercular activity of α,ω-diaminoalkanes, H2N(CH2)nNH2
Graphical abstract
Compounds, (H2N(CH2)nNH2, n = 9–12), exhibited important anti-tuberculosis activities in the range of 2.50–3.12 μg/mL, which can be compared with that of the first line drug, ethambutol (3.12 μg/mL). These results and a preliminary QSAR study can be considered an important information for the rational design of new leads for anti-TB compounds.

Diethylcarbamazine (DEC) (N,N-diethyl-4-piperazine-1-carboxamide), a synthetic derivative of piperazine, and secondary amines such as N-hexylcyclohexylamine exhibited activity against filariasis causing parasites [19].

2014, Chemometrics and Intelligent Laboratory SystemsCitation Excerpt :In the current study, according to in silico methodologies, a database containing 400 antimycobacterial compounds has been made; following that, 1400 descriptors were defined and classified to construct and introduce a predictive model, which can play a key role for designing efficient compounds against Mycobacterium sp. A global literature search within published articles in valid scientific databases such as ScienceDirect, PubMed Central, BioMed Central, MEDLINE/PubMed, Hindawi Publishing Corporation, Springer and Wiley-Blackwell was performed to construct a data set including 400 synthetic and natural antimycobacterial compounds with known minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) values against Mycobacterium sp. (especially for M. tuberculosis) and wherein relevant information of mentioned compounds was published during the years 1986–2010 [2,3,5–137]. In some cases, derivatives of chemical compounds with the same core and various additional groups were reported in the articles/databases.

Ethambutol (diaminoethane based derivative) has been the first class antitubercular drug on the market since the 1960’s, a factor which has recently led to the syntheses of a wide range of diaminoalkane derivatives and their biological tests against mycobacterium tuberculosis H37Rv [22–26]. A series of neutral ferrocenyl diaminoalcohol and diaminoalkane complexes in which the ferrocenyl groups are bridged by a diaminoalkane bonded directly to the cyclopentadienyl moiety has been synthesized and evaluated against mycobacterium tuberculosis H37Rv [27,28].
