Abstract

Tissue engineering aims to develop biological substitutes that restore, maintain, or improve damaged tissues and organ functionality. The regeneration of dental tissues remains a challenge due to the complexity of structures and the current prevalence of dental diseases. However, recent advances in nanotechnology, acting as biomimetic tools, show great potential to overcome these challenges. The purpose of this chapter is to provide the general dental practitioner with a background of nanotechnology in tissue engineering, its accomplishments in dentistry, and its future applications in dental tissue regeneration.
