Abstract

The UNSI project, project no. BE97-4044, was a collaborated effort aiming at promoting both unsteady aerodynamics and fluid-structure interaction. The main objectives are to be classified by an improvement of computational fluid dynamics (CFD) methods with respect to time-accurate, unsteady, flow behaviour, by comprehensively calibrating CFD methods, by carrying out measurements and computations in parallel to improve turbulence modelling particularly for unsteady flows, by extension and/or development of coupling procedures to account for sophisticated flow analysis going to be coupled to structural mechanics and last but not least by demonstrating the capabilities of the improved methods to predict static and dynamic aeroelastic phenomena for non-linear flow.
