Vessel-like channels supported by poly-L-lysine tubes
2016, Journal of Bioscience and BioengineeringCitation Excerpt :These results indicated that the channels supported by PLL-tubes became more robust and kept open longer than that without PLL-tubes. In addition, the channels might be kept open after 43 h since it is known that the shrinkage of collagen gel containing fibroblasts stops after 2 or 3 days of incubation (8). In conclusion, we developed vessel-like channels of various shapes supported by PLL-tubes in a collagen gel.

The extent of compaction generally increases with initial cell density [18,44,48,49,69] and decreases with initial collagen density [33,44,48,50,70]. However, even if the final collagen concentration is measured, the final gel modulus cannot be predicted from this value due to non-uniform compaction around the cells [48].

The lattice contracting process has been shown to consist of three distinct phases a lag phase before the initiation of contraction, followed by a rapid contraction phase, and finally by a slow contraction phase [49]. Various factors affect the contraction profile of FPCL, including cell density, culture temperature, serum concentration, collagen concentration, and drug intervention.
