2021, Redox BiologyCitation Excerpt :This therefore raises the question as to whether gut microflora can produce ET. Although evidence suggests that this does not occur (reviewed in Ref. [4]), this probably needs re-examination using more sensitive and accurate methods for ET analysis. If so, could ET production by the microbiome contribute to tissue levels of ET, and would changes in gut microflora, as seen in a wide range of diseases, influence the levels of ET in the body?
