2020, Ecotoxicology and Environmental SafetyCitation Excerpt :The remediation of PAHs contaminated sites has gained a great deal of attention due to the risks posed by PAHs to biological receptors over the past four decades (Wang and Wang, 2018). Several technologies have been developed and employed to remove PAHs from soil (Gou et al., 2019; Matzek and Carter, 2016; Richardson et al., 2011; Thiele and Brummer, 2002; Yap et al., 2011). Among a variety of chemical, physical, and biological technologies employed for PAHs contaminated soil treatment, chemical oxidation is one of the most promising strategies owing to its good performance in treating various recalcitrant pollutants (including PAHs) and its high efficiency in removing target contaminants (Matzek and Carter, 2016).
