There have been efforts to identify and monitor ambient VOCs via mobile sampling in a variety of environments such as classrooms (Adgate et al., 2004; de Gennaro et al., 2013), homes (De Bortoli et al., 1986; Shin and Jo, 2012), offices (Daisey et al., 1994), and outdoor settings including farms (Zhang et al., 2010) and city streets (Jia et al., 2008). However, there exists no widely accepted mobile sampling technique of VOCs during wildfires.

[30] measured 39 individual VOCs in 12 northern California office buildings. Indoor TVOC in this study ranged from 230 to 7000 μg/m3 (∼100–3044 ppb) with a geometric mean of 510 μg/m3 (∼222 ppb).
