Reward perceptions and the performance of emerging technology dependent and non-technology dependent manufacturing firms

Abstract

This exploratory research investigates the relationship between employees' perceptions of the reward climate and the growth and profitability of emerging technology dependent and non-technology dependent manufacturing firms. The perception of being rewarded for innovation is positively related to the growth of emerging technology dependent manufacturing firms, but negatively related to the growth of non-technology dependent manufacturing firms. The perception of being rewarded for conformity is positively related to the profitability of technology dependent firms and the growth of non-technology dependent firms.
