2001, Chemical Physics LettersCitation Excerpt :Thus, it should be better to investigate the location of a fluorescent probe when it is used in sensing a certain microheterogeneous medium. In the past few years, the fluorescent substituted 3H-indoles have been used to probe successfully the mean structural properties of aqueous micelles [4,9–11,15], reversed micelles [4,12], surfactant vesicles [13,14], and cyclodextrins (CD's) [16–21]. As a member of the family of 3H-indoles, the cationic surface-active molecule 1 (see Fig. 1) has attracted significant attention in the recent past [15,16].
