Abstract

We present an analytically exactly solvable model, based on thermally activated flux-creep, for magnetic relaxation in high-Tc superconductors. The model involves a single potential barrier which separates two pinning regions. The analytical expression derived for the magnetization M(t) gives a good description of experimental relaxation data. It also reproduces the results of Monte Carlo simulations obtained for many pinning regions. Furthermore, the two-pinning region model leads to a natural explanation of the ohmic behaviour of I–V-characteristics measured near Tc in strong magnetic fields.
