Abstract

A simple local density approximation is used to relate relativistic self-energies in infinite and finite systems. The method is applied to self-energies calculated in nuclear matter in the Dirac-Brueckner Hartree-Fock theory. Predicted binding energies, densities and single-particle spectra in finite nuclei are in satisfactory agreement with experiment without adjustment of nuclear matter results.
