Abstract

An isolated hexabromocuprate(II) anion has been characterized as an elongated square bipyramid by X-ray structure determination of the aminoguanidinium salt (CH8N4)2 [CuBr6]. We have carried out X-ray structure analysis. The magnetic susceptibility has been measured and the stability conditions for the compound studied. The structure consists of virtually planar aminoguanidinium(2 + ) cations and bipyramidal [CuBr6]4- anions forming a framework through N-HBr hydrogen bonds of 3.143-3.582 .
