Abstract

Second only to nuclear energy, air transport is an industry in which future growth could be seriously threatened by restrictions designed to protect the environment. The expansion of tourism could also suffer from limitations on air transport operations but may, in addition, be subject to other environmentalist obstacles to growth. It is therefore essential for the airlines and other sectors of the tourism industry to develop policies which will overcome environmentalist objections to their growth.
