The macrochannel plate: A suitable detector for low energy γ-rays and high energy electromagnetic showers

Abstract

We have developed a manufacturing process for arrays of high resistance lead glass tubing of various diameters, ranging from 500 μm to several mm, for the detection of γ-rays. We describe the applications of this type of device to positron emission tomography and high energy physics.
