Scaffolds in cytotoxic drugs and novel antitumor molecules interacting with nucleic acids
2023, Privileged Scaffolds in Drug DiscoveryStructural characterization of phytochemical content, antibacterial, and antifungal activities of Juglans regia L. leaves cultivated in Algeria
2022, Biocatalysis and Agricultural BiotechnologyIn vitro antimicrobial activity of Salvadora persica and Juglans regia extracts against microbial strains from oral cavity
2021, Biocatalysis and Agricultural BiotechnologyCitation Excerpt :Juglans regia is rich in flavonoids and naphtoquinones that are responsible for the antibacterial activity of its derived extracts (Quave et al., 2008). Furthermore, several studies showed that the antibacterial effect of plants may be due to various chemical compositions of extracts such as tannins, terpenoids, alkaloids and saponins (Tomás-Barberán et al.; Al-bayati & Sulaiman, 2008). The extracts of Juglans regia were active against fungal strains, of which diameter of inhibition zone was between 10 and 13mm with petroleum ether extract, between 8 and 17mm with chloroform extract, between 10 and 12mm with ethyl acetate extract and between 08 and 10mm with methanolic extract (Table 2).
Physiological and biochemical insights into the basal level of resistance of two maize hybrids in response to Fusarium verticillioides infection
2020, Plant Physiology and BiochemistryCitation Excerpt :Similarly, APX and POX activities increased on wheat, mango, and tomato plants infected by P. oryzae, C. fimbriata, and Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. lycopersici, respectively (Mandal et al., 2008; Debona et al., 2012; Bispo et al., 2015). The TSP can negatively affect the colonization of host tissues by increasing the membrane permeability on fungal cell walls and inhibiting the activity of the hydrolytic enzymes released by them (Tomás-Barberberán et al., 1990; Lattanzio et al., 2006). In the present study, there were significant differences between non-inoculated and inoculated plants from BRS 1035 and 30F35Y hybrids for TSP concentration in both internodes and nodes.
