2022, Quaternary InternationalCitation Excerpt :Also included in the pollen database of different source types, were some hyrax dung (twenty-two from two deposits of c. 20 cm deep) and eight samples of cave deposits from the 1 m Blydefontein Shelter deposits. All samples from the individual sections were included in a combined pollen sequence to produce one long record (Bousman et al., 1988; Scott and Bousman 1990; Bousman 1991; Bousman and Scott 1994; Scott et al., 2005). Although this dataset may combine sources with different taphonomic histories, the sites are all within a relatively restricted area on the current Blydefontein and neighboring Hughdale farms, mostly comprising organic alluvial deposits.
